Introduction
Welcome to Timecrack — a self-hosted, open source time tracking application for individuals and teams.
What is Timecrack?
Timecrack is an open source, self-hosted time tracking application that runs on your own server. It gives you and your team a clean interface to track time spent on projects and tasks, generate reports, and stay organized. Because it's self-hosted, your data stays entirely under your control — no third-party services involved.
Core Concepts
Projects
Projects are the top-level containers for organizing your work. Each project can contain multiple tasks and time entries. Create projects for clients, departments, or any grouping that makes sense for your workflow.
Tasks
Tasks break projects down into specific pieces of work. Assign tasks within a project to keep your time tracking granular and your reports meaningful.
Time Entries
Time entries are the core of Timecrack. You can start and stop a live timer or manually add time entries with a start and end time. Every entry is linked to a project and optionally a task.
Reports
Timecrack provides reports that summarize tracked time by project, task, user, or date range. Use reports to understand where time is being spent and to share summaries with your team or clients.
