Application Settings
Administrators can configure application-wide settings that affect how Timecrack works for all users.
Accessing Application Settings
Application settings are available only to administrators. Navigate to Settings in the application menu to access them.
General Settings
Application Name
Customize the name displayed in the application header and browser title. This is useful if you want to brand Timecrack for your organization.
Default Language
Set the default language for new user accounts. Individual users can override this in their personal settings.
Date Format
Choose how dates are displayed throughout the application. Common formats include:

Time Format Preferences
Time Display
Choose between 12-hour (AM/PM) and 24-hour time formats for displaying time entries throughout the application.
Duration Format
Configure how durations are displayed in reports and time entries:
HH:MM— e.g., 02:30Decimal— e.g., 2.5h
Default Project Settings
Configure defaults that apply when creating new projects:
- Default billable status — Whether new time entries are billable by default
- Rounding — Optional rounding rules for time entries (e.g., round to nearest 15 minutes)
Notification Preferences
Configure how and when Timecrack sends notifications:
- Email notifications — Enable or disable email alerts for reports and reminders
- Timer reminders — Optionally remind users if a timer has been running for an unusually long time
Tip: For team deployments, create individual accounts for each user rather than sharing credentials. This ensures accurate time tracking and proper audit trails.
Database Settings
Database configuration is set during installation via the .env file. If you need to change your database connection settings, edit the .env file on the server and clear the config cache.
Caution: Modifying database settings incorrectly can make Timecrack inaccessible. Always back up your configuration before making changes.
